Margaret Patterson, LCSW—Executive Director

Margaret Patterson, LCSW, is the first staff person and Executive Director of the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention Of Child Abuse of Dallas/Fort Worth, now known as the CAP Center. Previously, she was the Executive Director for a 24-hour emergency shelter for abused children, which pioneered therapeutic intervention. She has administered emergency shelters for battered women, and developed national programs and policies for the YWCA and United Way of America.   Ms. Patterson holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston College. She has been at CAP since 1992.
 
    
Carol Duncan, LCSW– Clinical Program Director

Carol Duncan, LCSW, is the Program Director for the clinical programs of the CAP Center. Previously, she was a Child Protective Service Supervisor for the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, where she was employed for nearly 25 years. She served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association for Infant Mental Health for a number of years, and was president of this organization in 1996. Ms. Duncan received a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1980. She has been at the CAP Center since January 2002. 
 
 
 
    
Debra ToyerAdministrative Manager
 
Debra Toyer holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and has twenty three years of experience working in public schools and higher education. Debra also has extensive volunteer experience with philanthropic organizations, including Crittenden Young Mothers, Girl Scouts and The Family Place. She was also awarded the SHERO award by the Education Services Center, Region 10. 
 
 
 
    
Casey Kochan– Healthy Families Support Worker
 
Casey is currently finishing her BA in Sociology from American Military University. As a previous employee of Healthy Families in Maryland, Casey brings in her experience and new ideas to the Healthy Families staff. Casey is very enthusiastic and passionate about working with young and first- time mothers. Casey loves using her creativity to reach out to young mothers. Casey has a 6 year old daughter and enjoys spending time with her.
 

 

 
Lupe Robles - Healthy Families Support Worker
 
Lupe Robles is fluent in Spanish and English. She received her Bachelors Degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002.  She has been employed as a Family Support Worker with the Healthy Families Program since July 2008. Her previous experience as a case manager with the City of Dallas includes working with adult offenders. She has also worked with victims of domestic violence, foster youth, youth offenders.  
Julie Boyd, LCSW - Healthy Families Support Worker

Julie Boyd, LMSW, is a recent addition to the CAP center staff. She graduated in May 2008 with her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and received her Bachelor’s in Applied Sociology at Texas State University in 2006. Julie has had rewarding opportunities working with children and families in many different capacities; including the school setting, residential treatment, a visitation program, and a psychiatric hospital. Julie is excited about working in the Healthy Families program and expanding her knowledge on the challenges young and teen parents encounter.  
    
Amy McShane, LCSW– Parent Aide Case Manager
 
Amy McShane holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Randolph-Macon College in Virginia and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in Missouri. Amy has been a licensed social worker for seven years. Prior to working at the CAP Center, Amy was a Case Manager for a therapeutic foster care agency in Baltimore, Maryland for three years. Amy also has experience as a school social worker and crisis counselor. Amy joined the staff of the CAP Center in 2002 as a Parent Aide Case Manager. 
 
    
Karen Coxe, LMSW– Parent Aide Case Manager
 
Karen Coxe is an LMSW with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.  She has been working for the CAP Center for over 4 years.  She is the mother of three children and has worked with the PTA and other volunteer organizations in her community.  Prior to her work at the CAP Center, she worked for Dallas Co. MHMR and Child Protective Services.
 
    
Heidi Parker, LPC– Parent Aide Case Manager
 
Heidi Parker has a Masters degree in Counseling and has been licensed for two years as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  In addition to working at the CAP Center, she also has a small private counseling practice in Plano working with troubled teens and their families.  Before coming to the CAP Center, she worked for three years at Dallas Metrocare, a mental health agency working with low income families, as a supervisor and a counselor.  Her passion is for helping children and their parents learn to live together in harmony and to grow together in love.
 
    
Jennifer Mullinax– Special Events Coordinator
 
In 2004 Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma State University in Business Management with a minor in Marketing.  Jennifer previously worked as a Media Planner in Dallas.  While at OSU, Jennifer spent three years, including one as the Executive Director, working on Up til’ Dawn, a national fundraising program for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In addition to being the SEC, Jennifer serves as the Children’s Coordinator for the Families First program. Last but not least, Jennifer is a die-hard Oklahoma State basketball fan. Go Cowboys!
 
 
Jill CreelShaken Baby Syndrome Educator
 
Jill has recently joined the CAP Center after 8 years in pharmaceutical sales. Prior to that, she gained insight into the growing needs of at-risk families while teaching Head Start. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. At the CAP Center, Jill teaches classes and trainings to students, child care providers, and community citizens about child abuse prevention, specifically they dangers of shaking babies.
 

 


Chris Deinhammer- Director of Training and Education

Chris is the Director of Training and Education at the Child Abuse Prevention Center. He oversees the Shaken Baby program, Families First program, and all website-related activities. Chris was formerly with the American Heart Association where he was a Youth Market Director managing schools and accounts in Denton County, Grayson County, and portions of Dallas County. Prior to the that,  Chris spent eight years teaching and coaching at area high schools. Chris received his Bachelor of Arts in English at UT San Antonio. He has a wife, Jodie, who teaches at Coppell High School and an eighteen month old son, Jace.
